We have to remember that someone will be making a lot of money from this
and does not have to live with the outcome. Therefore it will be
extremely difficult to get this cancelled. I fully endorse what
C.A.G are trying to do. I realise that we are trying to get the
Olympics in London and some of the complex will be built on the old
Stratford Marshalling Yards. This will only add insult to injury
as Ken Livingstone and co want to raise the cost of financing for it by
increasing our council tax. I feel that this would be the best
place to put this monster Crossrail. C.A.G. Reply: Thank you for you message. We totally agree Mr Jenkins. As is stands at the moment we could be levied for the Olympics as well as for Crossrail. Why is it that the same people end up paying for everything? It's a lose lose situation. |

| 29 | 24/09/04 | With regard to the post no 27, its hard to pick out 6 points as they are all so important. I've had a go though and decided on 3,4,6,10,12, and the last one, 15. Hope this helps. Good luck with the campaign, keep up the good work. There are a lot of us who really appreciate what you are doing, not just for us now, but for generations to come. | Mrs Goldman |

Margaret Mullane Parliamentary Spokeswoman for Romford Labour Party,
fully supports the C.A.G. Campaign. She believes that the
proposals should be withdrawn, as they will completely blight the
area, and will have a massive detrimental effect on the environment
of the people living in the area. Margaret believes a brown field
site outside of Romford should be found for the sidings and depot.
C.A.G. Reply: Thank you for your support. |

Response to post no's 17 & 22: Thank you both for your
suggestions. We have had a committee meeting and both your points
have been raised. With regard to the suggestion of a residents
meeting, at the moment we feel that we need to get the replies to the
100 questions
raised with Crossrail before we would have any information to
pass on. It is something we could consider at some stage, we
certainly haven't discounted the idea. With regard to distributing the leaflet that we sent home with the children of Crowlands School last week, we think we have probably targeted the appropriate people with that one already. However, we do think it is time to put together a newsletter, and we are going to be doing that in the next 10 days. Some of the information could be taken from the leaflet you mention. If you feel, as a parent, that there are perhaps 6 points in the leaflet that were particularly important to convey to others, could you let us know which ones and we will use them. |

| 26 | 22/09/04 | Has anyone thought of
contacting Friends of The Earth for help or ideas? They were
instrumental in saving Rainham Marsh from what I can remember and they
do get involved in local and community issues. C.A.G. Reply: Thank you very much for your suggestion. Contacting Friends of the Earth was mentioned to C.A.G. Team members when we were petitioning in Romford Market, 21st August 2004. After contacting them, we received a lengthy e-mail suggesting useful publications, however no offer of help. Have you had dealings with Friends of The Earth in the past? If so, it would be great if you could contact them on C.A.G.'s behalf and keep us updated with proceedings. |

| 25 | 21/09/04 | It has been suggested to C.A.G. by James Ryan, Crossrail's Area Consultation Manager, that residents of Romford who missed the Crossrail Consultation Unit in Romford on the 17th and 18th of September can go along to the Stratford and Brentwood units, where information on Romford can be obtained. View the dates page for the date, time and venue information given. | C.A.G. |
| 24 | 18/09/04 | If the construction of the proposed Crossrail development in Romford
is as professionally delivered as the Consultation Road-show in Romford
Market today, God we are in for a rough ride! Keep those laminated
emergency instruction sheets from Transco handy, I think we will need
them. i.e. When they remove one of the gasometers - BOOM !
Well done to everybody who went to Westminster to hand the petition in. Keep up the good work C.A.G., you are a credit to the community. |

| 23 | 18/09/04 | Having visited the Romford Consultation unit this morning, the only thing that impressed me was the smart uniforms that they were wearing. The one thing that I did notice was a new roundabout has put in on the road leading from Jutsums Lane up to just past the top of Beechfield Gardens. Also on their artists impression, the new control tower etc has been put in the wrong place. Look at it closely, it is at the back of Beechfield Gardens where Parcel Force is now. What a joke! Also I would like to know where the money is coming from to pay for this consultation effort. Us tax payers again??? | Ron Treslove |
| 22 | 18/09/04 | Just wanted to mention how
informative the leaflet was that you distributed to Crowlands school
kids. It's just what is needed to spread awareness of the campaign.
I've shown it to a few people who didn't know how big the Crossrail
project is. Maybe a copy put through doors would help too? (Just a
suggestion.) C.A.G. Reply: I will certainly pass your very positive comments and suggestions on to the ladies responsible for distributing the leaflets through the school. |

| 21 | 18/09/04 | I too made a special trip
to Romford to find the Crossrail mobile unit. I was amazed to find that
it wasn't there. I walked past the copper sculptures at one point
and didn't see it, so what time did it appear? This is a
disgusting way to treat the residents of Romford. I'm not able to
make the trip again today, so how many are like me and have missed this
opportunity to have their say?
C.A.G. Reply: I would suggest that you e-mail Jonathon Baggs direct, and tell him of the problems you have had and press him for an explanation. His e-mail address is Jonathonbaggs@crossrail.co.uk Alternatively you can contact the Crossrail Referee at info@crossrailreferee.org |
