I've been past footpath 123 a couple of times over the weekend and noticed that the little sign is gone! |

I was glad that people agreed with me about the propaganda that Crossrail are giving our children. I don't suppose it will make much difference but I've e-mailed them and told them how despicable I think it is. Well, at least it made me feel better! I will also be tearing the rubbish up and sending it back to them as suggested by another C.A.G. supporter. | Susan Goldman |

This method of giving propaganda to school children is as old as the hills. They have being doing this since day one! http://www.serco.com/media/industrynews/ItemPage.asp?ItemID=3681006 C.A.G. Reply: Interesting link you've found. Thank you. |

Re: Messages 43 and 45. I don't have any children, but I would be more than a little cross. I watch a Programme called "Watchdog" and feel that the subject of junk mail could be applied here. Why not send any propaganda sent or given to children and other residents, straight back to Crossrail! Yes, it may cost a stamp but they might get the message quicker. C.A.G. Reply: Thank you Bob. It's certainly an idea and would leave them in no doubt as to what people think. |

I have just received my latest update e-mail. What a lovely idea they are, and they are so informative. I almost look forward to receiving them, just in case I have missed something when browsing the site. I find your articles interesting and easy to read and understand, and think that the way in which you have put the new plans on is very good. The 're-vamped' homepage is also well done and, if you don't mind me saying, has come at a good time. Thank you C.A.G. C.A.G. Reply: Thanks, It's good to know that the updates are useful. |

Susan Goldman, post 43, has said that she is angry about the propaganda that Crossrail is sending into local schools, well so she should be! May I say, that this has been going on for a long time, and has been done all over London. Many people have complained about it, but obviously to no avail. They should be torn up and a letter written to Crossrail saying that it is unthinkable that children should be brain washed like this. The same happened in Richmond and the people were furious. Thank you. C.A.G. Reply: Thanks Ron. |

I have just read that this Government are going to bank roll this terrible thing Cross Rail. It states that they will pay the £12 billion. What a calamity!! C.A.G. Reply: Thanks Ron, this is concerning news that we will look into further. Anyone wishing to read articles regarding this news can follow the following links. I was really angry the other day when my daughter came home from school with a copy of 'The Link', which is a children's newsletter from Crossrail. I know this probably sounds irrational but I felt almost like my child had been given propaganda! Reading through this 'child friendly' magazine I was angered even more to find that Crossrail are trying to 'befriend' our kids and promote Crossrail as something quite wonderful and exciting. Well, that may be so for many children living along the Crossrail route, but not those in Romford whose quality of life will be affected if this goes ahead. This 'newsletter' gives out 'goody bags' for letters and poems that the children submit. I wonder if my child will receive one when she writes to tell them that she doesn't want them to spoil the place where she lives! C.A.G. Reply: We would be very interested to hear what Crossrail have to say in reply to your complaint. |

About Footpath 123, I have lived in Romford for 45 years, and as a child I used footpath 123 to get to my mates who lived down Beechfield Gardens. One day I ask why there was an alleyway at the bottom of the road. The answer was that if the houses at the top the road was on fire or there was a bad road traffic accident at the top of the road and residents needed to be evacuated, they could leave via Footpath 123. I am now 52 so the reason for the foot path my be lost. I never saw adults use the footpath only us kids on bikes. Are there any others out there who still live in the area who remember this. C.A.G. Reply: Hi Bob. This is an interesting theory. You are quite right in saying that if there is a disaster at the Crow Lane end of the road, the only exit for Beechfield Gardens residents would be via footpath 123. Whether that was the reason for footpath 123, we are not sure, but we can ask the footpaths secretary for his comment on this. |
