The Blyth Group must think the residents in Beechfield Gardens are as dim as them, of course we saw their workman rip up the concrete fence posts and throw them onto the embankment, along with THEIR empty cola bottles. Even if the concrete fence posts were already laying on the embankment (which they weren't), surely for safety reasons they should have been removed, before some low life throws them onto the lines and causes a train crash!  Then there would be public enquiries, court cases, all using taxpayers money, when all that was needed was a bit of 'tidying up'.  Also, by saying that the other rubbish was already there, this is conveniently 'passing the buck'. How Professional!!

C.A.G. Reply: How true Denise!  Thanks.

C.A.G. Plea:  We desperately need some more volunteers from the following roads to deliver leaflets for us: Cromer Road, Dagenham Road, Kensington Road, Honiton Road, Crow Lane and the Waterloo Road Estate.  C.A.G. is a residents action group and without the residents we can not run smoothly and effectively.

The following reply was received to my letter to Blyth Group Limited:

Following a recent visit by one of our representatives I can confirm out finding as follows;

1. The old fence post left on the embankment were not part of the fence removed by our operatives however action has been taken to remove the majority of concrete post from the site irrespective of this.

2.  Other rubbish such as tyres, old trolleys etc were on the site before the work commenced.  We have instruction to renew the fence only, not remove waste left by others.

3.  In clearing a line for the new fence we have to remove a strip of vegetation.  Initially this can expose the surface beneath however having completed many sites similar to this I am confident that by summer next year new natural growth will have covered the site.

3.  As contractors for Network Rail we have no knowledge of the depot mentioned in your letter.

May I take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused as it is not our intention to cause any upset.  If I can be of further assistance then please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully

Don Bentley,

Contracts Manager.

C.A.G. Comment: I am amazed that they are saying the fence posts were not the ones they removed as I don't think anyone living here would believe that to be true.  As far as removing a 'strip' of vegetation, that I couldn't understand.  They have removed 'all' vegetation!

We would like to welcome our regular visitors from overseas and thank them for keeping updated with C.A.G's campaign.  Do you have any links with Romford?  It'd be great to hear who you are and your views on our campaign, positive or negative.   Please keep visiting!

Hi all.  As a response to message 64, I sent details to the advised e-mail address and I also got the same answer that my house is outside the compensation entitlement area. After taking a closer look at the proposed plans (Project Plans Page) it looks like most of our houses are out side this area.  My house is opposite the proposed wheel lathe, so if my house is outside the area then ALL of Sheringham Avenue is.  Crossrail have once again proven that they have good business sense, "Let's assure residents that we will give compensation entitlement to residents near the site (Oh but make sure minimum houses are in the said area 50 metres) that should keep them quiet."  Well done Crossrail.

C.A.G. Reply: We have also sent an e-mail in this respect with regard to our house in Beechfield Gardens.  We will post the reply as soon as we receive it.

Hi all.  I have been hearing from some residents in the area that they have just found out that the Train Wash Plants will be using caustic/ water mix to clean the trains and are worried about this.  Could C.A.G get some information on this for the residents who will be near these plants?  I know the health and safety aspect of this; this mix was used at Ilford Depot where I worked for 21 Years, but feel I am not qualified to give the correct response.

C.A.G. Reply: Thank you for raising this concern.  We did raise questions related to the cleaning of the rolling stock,  in our 100 questions submitted to Crossrail after our meeting at the House of Commons.  We have been told that no chemicals will be used, however as we know from past experience, we must keep an eye on this.  In this respect we have been told that more information will be available should the Hybrid Bill  be passed and the next phase begins  For further information, please refer to the 100 Questions, questions 28- 31 in particular.

Me again. Have just received an email back from Crossrail that states that my property is outside the boundaries set for compensation entitlement. Seeing as the depot is going to be about 50 metres from my house I find this bizarre.  You may want to check if you will be entitled for any compensation if this monstrosity goes ahead by sending your addresses to 'safeguarding@crossrail.co.uk'. Cheers.

C.A.G. Reply:  Thank you for bringing this to our attention Julie.  We have sent it out as an urgent update e-mail so that everyone is made aware.

Hi all.  Sorry - but I probably didn't word my previous email very well.  With regards to the handing out of leaflets at the station I was referring to a general leaflet about the effects of Crossrail on local traffic etc - not the fall in property prices. Just so we could reach a wider audience and not just those who live in the immediate vicinity.
Anyway keep it up C.A.G!

C.A.G. Reply:  Sorry Julie, it isn't your fault, we misunderstood it.  We'll put it on the agenda for the next meeting and will get back to you.  Thank you for your continued support.

Reply to post number 60 from CAG Committee:  Thank you for your suggestion Julie.  It was discussed at this weeks committee meeting and our decision with regard to leafleting outside Romford Station is as follows: The committee decided against supporting this idea as it was felt that with property prices currently falling as a result of the economic climate, we are not qualified to attribute falling prices locally, wholly to the prospect of the Crossrail depot, at this time.  To do so would be inadvisable and may effectively mean us causing blight in the area.
