The message from "Captain Beefheart" fails to explain that the brief debate of last week to carry over the Crossrail Bill was simply a technical procedure, supported by all political parties.  No vote took place and no discussion on the details of the Bill itself was permitted.  Hardly any M.P.s were present, as last Thursday we were all released to go back to our constituencies to prepare for the General Election.
Jon Cruddas the Labour M.P. for Dagenham (Chadwell Heath) was also not present, so for "Captain Beefheart" to mention me alone would imply that he is attempting to use the CAG message board to make political attacks.  Perhaps "Captain Beefheart" would care to reveal who he actually is?  The motion to carry over the Crossrail Bill was passed unanimously and has no effect on our campaign against the Depot.  The 2nd Reading of the Bill is when the fight really does begin.  This will be after the General Election.

I was interested and not a tad surprised, to see the absence of a certain right wing Romford MP during this debate about Crossrail on April 7th. You may be interested in looking at this:  http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2005-04-07.1604.0  House of Commons debates  Thursday, 7 April 2005

It took me 40 minutes to travel less than a mile on Saturday due to the closure of Station Road.  So it looks as if it may be Shankies Pony once Crossrail arrives.

Having been caught up in a grid lock at Chadwell Heath, it makes me wonder what it is going to be like if Crossrail goes ahead!  The notice at the bridge in Chadwell Heath says it will last for 2 weeks.  If  2 weeks of work can cause so much chaos, what is it going to be like for the coming years when Crossrail comes to town I wonder?!  Also, reading the Romford Recorder this week, I notice that the council is against this depot being built here, but it also stated that the meeting was very poorly attended.  The people of Romford want to be aware that Crossrail will come if people do not put themselves out to attend such meetings.  Say No to Crossrail!

C.A.G. Reply: Thank you Ron, it's good to hear from you again. You make two very good points here.  It is important that people make their concerns known using various means, including such meetings as the Central Area Forum.

Just wanted to say well done for your article on the London news.  You did very well and managed to put our point across effectively.  Congratulations!  Hopefully you'll be inundated with press offers from now on.

Crossrail Consultation Results.
I read with interest the results from Crossrail of their Consultation for the Shenfield Branch. (These are Crossrail Figures)

Agree 16 ( 02.5% ) Neutral 71 (11%) Disagree 538 (86.5%)

How obvious is it? Of the replies received by Crossrail it is obvious that we do not want Crossrail or need Crossrail for the Shenfield Branch.  I also note that Reading want Crossrail extended to their town. Well if Reading want Crossrail so much, let them have it together with a Crossrail train Depot.

Hi all.  I have been scanning the various news channels regarding Crossrail for many months and have seen how many places will be temporarily affected if Crossrail gets the go ahead.  What about the places that will be permanently affected?  Even when the BBC news did a special news report they mentioned Mile End, Stratford and the big change to Shenfield but nothing about Chadwell Heath or Romford.  I think that the BBC should be informed of the disgraceful way that Crossrail have been dealing with the residents of Romford.

C.A.G. Reply: You make a valid point Bob and getting in touch with the regional and national media is possibly something that we may have to start thinking about.  Thank you Bob!

Thank you for your kind words of appreciation for the first quiz night.  Although we will be unable to attend the next one, we are sure it will be as good if not better.  I went to Crossrail's road show and was not impressed. They could not answer any of my questions.  What we have to face up to is, where they want to build this monster is on land that is to small and contaminated for them to sell off for housing etc.  All the other sites can be sold off for large amounts of money.  As the committee are aware the Crossrail bill goes before Parliament on the 23 Feb 2005,  we can only fight on and hope!!!!!!!!!!!

C.A.G. Reply: Thank you for you message Roger, it's great to hear from different people.  We felt exactly the same about the information unit and agree with your thoughts on the reasons for their choice of site.  Thank you very much for all your help and support, it is very much appreciated!

Yesterday I visited the Crossrail Information Unit in Romford: it was a complete waste of my time.  It was no different to the last one. How on earth they can say it is informative is beyond me.  All that money it must cost to put this show on the road, I would like to know if the general public is paying for this.  I also asked for a book to sign my protest against Crossrail , and they kindly told me that they hadn't got such a book.  I wonder why?  WHAT A WASTE!

C.A.G. Reply: Good to hear from you again Ron.  We are in complete agreement!

I see from your dates page that Crossrail are holding two more information units in Romford soon.  Let's just hope that they bother to be where they say they'll be this time.  I will certainly be attending, WHEREVER they are.  In my mind they still have a lot to answer for and I'm willing to be yet another 'thorn in their side'.  Thanks for keeping us up to date C.A.G, it is much appreciated!

C.A.G Reply: Your more than welcome.  It is worth remembering that they did change location last time from Bar Mango to the bottom of the market place.  Residents: be vigilant!
