Opposing the Crossrail Plan for Romford & Chadwell Heath

The Crossrail Consultation Unit is Coming to Romford.  Are you prepared?

This is a friendly reminder, that the Crossrail Mobile Consultation Unit will be in South Street, Romford (outside Bar Mango) on Friday 17th September, Noon 'til 8pm and on Saturday 18th September, 10am 'til 5pm.

We would also like to take this opportunity to keep you informed of additional changes and clarifications on the depot plans.

Firstly, plans received by residents this week show an access road from Jutsums Lane to the depot.  This will run along side the railway line, where footpath 123 is currently situated, and will pass across the top of Beechfield Gardens.

Secondly the plans also show more clearly, the layout of the area between Sandgate Close and Beechfield Gardens.  The area to the front (Crow Lane end) is labelled 'potential area for Royal Mail van parking'.  Behind that is the route control centre, and the rest is for use as a 100 space car park.  Also, in the area, a potentially noisy wheel lathe at the depot site, opposite Sherringham Avenue.  It would appear that the new bridge over Nursery Walk, could extend the subway there by up to three times it's current length.

The plans show two train wash facilities and a paint shed, situated on the Crossrail stabling area, parallel to the Romford Stadium.

All other areas of the plans seem to remain unchanged.

When visiting the mobile unit, make sure you ask to see the most recent plans, as visitors to the Liverpool Street venue this week, were shown outdated ones.

Crossrail admit the plans are being constantly updated and we can only do our best to show the changes on the website, as we have to draw our own plans due to copyright.  It would therefore be an idea for residents to form small groups of their own and ask for plans on a weekly/fortnightly basis, working on a rota system.  That way, bearing in mind Crossrail can take up to 4 weeks to send out information, you should be able to keep up to date.  In the meantime we will continue to do our best for you.

We would love to hear your comments and opinions on the proposals, campaign and consultation unit.  Please use our message board to air your views.
