Crowlands Action Group
Formally 'The Crossrail Action Group'

What Have C.A.G. Been Doing Recently?

It would seem that all has been quiet on the Crossrail front recently but this is far from the truth.  C.A.G. have been working hard on your behalf.

The first reading of the Crossrail Hybrid Bill was on the 22nd February.  Since that date, we have been sifting through the details included in the bill, and collating the information in order to form our petition.

This petition is not a collection of names and addresses but is a summary of objections to particular aspects of the hybrid bill, which in our case is primarily the maintenance depot and associated works.  It is a formal request to the House of Commons for the petitioner to be allowed to put his case before the Select Committee.   An individual, such as yourself, or a group of individuals such as C.A.G., who are ‘directly and specially affected’ by the provisions of the Bill, may petition although the promoter of the bill, in this case Crossrail, has the right to challenge the petitioners ‘right to petition’.  This is why we need to make every effort to word our petition correctly using the required formal wording and format, and this is why we have sought legal help.

In order for the petition to be presented the group will need an Agent, of which there are two types.

We believe it may be Havering Council’s intention to petition elements of the bill too and we are seeking a meeting with the council in order that our petitions do not overlap.
